Keep clear of hazards
Stay away from fallen lines, unstable trees and loose heavy fence sections. Contact the appropriate emergency or utility service for those hazards. A fence inquiry does not provide emergency response or establish that a damaged area is safe.
Document visible conditions
From a safe location, note affected runs, gates and neighboring structures. Photographs can help describe the scope. Preserve relevant records if you plan to speak with an insurer, but do not assume fence damage will be covered.
Separate removal and repair
Ask whether debris handling, damaged posts, footings and landscape restoration are included. A replacement panel may not match the remaining fence exactly. Shared boundaries and access from a neighboring property need agreement before work starts.
Plan temporary containment
Pets and normal yard access may need a temporary arrangement while materials and scheduling are confirmed. Discuss this explicitly; it is not automatically included in a repair quote. Widespread damage may justify comparing repair and replacement.
