Describe behavior as well as size
A pet that digs, climbs or jumps presents different needs from one that simply follows an open gate. Explain those behaviors during planning. No ordinary fence should be promised as escape-proof, and supervision remains important.
Review the entire boundary
Look at bottom clearance, corners, connections to buildings and gate openings. Sloped ground can create gaps that are not obvious in a standard panel photograph. The final layout should account for the real grade rather than only the selected material.
Plan routine access
Consider bins, mowers, deliveries and children using gates. Latch location and reliable closing habits affect daily use. Discuss any special hardware needs rather than assuming a standard latch solves every containment problem.
Arrange care during construction
Pets need a separate secure arrangement while sections are open or work is underway. Temporary barriers must be specifically agreed, not assumed. Review the completed line and gates before returning to normal yard use.
