Identify the view you want to screen
Privacy from a neighboring patio is a different problem from a view down a sloping yard. Describe where you sit, stand and move through the space. Fence height alone cannot guarantee screening from elevated windows or higher ground.
Compare wood and vinyl layouts
Wood offers multiple board arrangements and finish choices; vinyl offers defined panel systems. Look at gaps at corners, gates and changes in elevation, not only the center of a sample panel. Product choice should account for maintenance and neighborhood restrictions.
Keep the yard usable
Consider daylight, plants, airflow, maintenance access and gate placement alongside screening. Solid fencing should not obstruct drainage or required access. Review transitions near a driveway or corner with the responsible authority rather than guessing at permitted height.
Request a scope-based estimate
Share approximate length, desired material, gate needs and whether an old fence must be removed. Final pricing depends on the actual site and specifications. Settle boundary information and approvals before installation is scheduled.
