Balance openness with containment
An open picket design preserves views but does not provide visual privacy. Review picket spacing, bottom clearance and gate gaps against the actual intended use. Do not assume a decorative fence is appropriate for every pet or pool application.
Plan around grade and entrances
Some panel systems can follow a slope within specified limits, while others require steps or transitions. Gate placement also needs room to swing without dragging. Bring attention to retaining walls, paved surfaces and drainage paths before choosing the line.
Compare specifications
Panel height, post size, finish, fastening method and gate hardware should be identified in the proposal. Ask about compatible replacement parts and finish-care instructions. The lowest material price may describe a different grade or a different installation scope.
Keep safety requirements separate
For pool projects, the complete barrier—including gates and access from the house—needs review against applicable requirements. An aluminum product label alone does not establish approval of the finished enclosure. Confirm the responsible jurisdiction before work is authorized.
